About children first!

children first! is Catholic Mission’s action for children, and in 2004 the theme is Life for All, focussing on children’s health. Every three seconds a child dies, that’s 20 children every minute, every day, and often from preventable and curable diseases.

The money raised for children first! goes directly to helping children and their communities with projects such as feeding programs, establishing clean water supplies, providing materials for education and building shelters, such as orphanages.

One project that children first! is helping is the Canossa Academy Outreach Program in Lipa City, Philippines. Lipa City is a very poor area, with most of the families living in small huts. There is a lack of water supply and sanitation in the area, and most families fetch water from wells.

children first! Catholic Mission’s action for children is providing funds to this project so they can continue this important life-saving work for the poor children of Lipa City.
